Day Twenty-eight Tuesday (March 28)

Prayer:

God of glory, you chose to give up everything so that you could woo us to yourself without deceit, without force, without trickery. Thanks for loving us so much. Amen.

Bible Reading:

Philippians 2:1-11

Silence:

One to two minutes

Reflection:

Think about it – God humbled himself. He took on the form of a human being complete with hunger and loneliness, fatigue and tears. He didn’t just hide his divine power and glory in his hip pocket to pull out and impress people with, he gave it all up. He stubbed his toes and swatted flies. He endured cold nights and hot days. He didn’t have to do it. He could have put on a big cosmic display and wowed us. He could have fixed our brains and made us like him, even worship him. He could have threatened us with annihilation, and made us a deal we could not refuse. No, God in his wisdom, took on our way in order to provide for us “his” way; he gave to us himself, totally, so that MAYBE, we might give ourselves up for someone else. If God humbled himself, how about you and me?

Action – Repentance and Creation:
Take a look at your pride today, honestly. List the ways that it gets in the way of deepening your relationships with other, how it provide you justification for your sentiments, how it preludes the spirit of true reconciliation. Then figure out in your life the answer to his question: What would Jesus do if he were here? (and remember, he is.)
