Day Twenty-four Friday (March 24)

Prayer:

Lord, bless our dreaming until the day of peace comes. Shelter us when the pains of reality try to extinguish our hopes. Amen.

Bible Reading:

Micah 4:1-4

Silence:

One to two minutes

Reflection:

Are our warring ways curable? West Point closed down? International disputes arbitrated? Military factories producing agricultural products? Multitudes streaming in for Bible study? God’s word reaching everywhere on earth? Not if left to our devices. But yes, If God promises and does it. Then shade from the summer sun for everyone. Then fruit to savor and security under one’s very own tree. Sounds like Eden? God promises meet our need, and our long tings. But the long shadow of another tree with its gnarled, bloody branches is now our rest stop along the way. One day, the full reality. But not yet. We wait for a time promised “in the days to come”.

Action – Repentance and Creation:
When you read the newspaper or listen to the news today, take time to image what it would be like to hear of successes and breakthrough and peace agreements. Don’t tire of dreaming. The empty tomb on Easter is our confirmation that dreams in God’s hands come true.
