Lent Day Three Friday (March 3)

Prayer

Gracious Lord, there are so many competing forces in our lives, so many paths, so many attractions.  Be our rock and our foundation, so that we may prosper in your ways. Amen.

Bible Reading:

Psalm 1

Silence:

one to two minutes

Reflection:

We choose career paths, we pick life partners, we make long term investments – big ticket items, important matters.  But how is it that we do these things?  How is it that such consequential choices are made?  They are made, not on the spur of moment or in a blink of an eye, they are made as a result of a long development, through a process of patterning. A person and his choices are the result of a discipline learned day by day along the way.  The fruits that are borne reveal the content of the discipline – blessing or curse, happiness or discontent.

Action – Repentance and Creation:
A serious inventory of just how you feel about your life is a most difficult, yet critical matter, something that ought to be pursued from time to time.  Find a trusted friend or counselor and start such an inventory.  This is not a one time shot, but a long term commitment to self reflection.
