VOLUNTEER MINISTRY

  • After-school assistance (homework, socialization, creative activities)
  • Mentoring youth (one on one)
  • Daytime hospitality at 2325 Polk St

HANDS ON HELP

  • Power wash sidewalk at 2325 Polk St and possible neighbors – bi-weekly
  • Clean windows and doors bi-weekly

WORSHIP ASSISTANCE

  • Set up and care for the Altar (communion set up, cleaning linens, candle care, etc.)
  • Reading of Scriptures during worship (supervision required)
  • Singing in choir/playing instruments (audition required)

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

  • Local news reporting and distribution (District 3 issues, SF Supervisors, photo journalism, Middle Polk Neighborhood Association, etc.) Credentials provided upon training
  • Distribution/displaying of flyers, news bulletins, public notice to immediate neighborhood
  • Collecting, sorting and street distributions of supplies for homeless

  • Night Ministry participation 10 PM-4 AM
  • Crisis phoneline ministry (with training)
  • Open Cathedral, outdoor worship
  • Ushering, food distribution, liturgical help, welcomers
  • 2 PM Sunday at Civic Center; 5:30 PM at 16th Street Bart

ST. FRANCIS LUTHERAN CHURCH (152 Church St., SF 94114)

  • Community meal for seniors – 12 PM Wednesday
  • Food Pantry organization and distribution – Tuesday
  • Breakfast for area community – Sunday 5-9 AM
  • HIV Food distribution – Saturday

SANTA MARIA Y SANTA MARTA LUTHERAN CHURCH (1050 S Van Ness, SF 94110)

  • Delores Homeless Shelter
  • LGBTQIA+ Youth Shelter

SOJOURN CHAPLAINCY (Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital)

  • Volunteer Chaplaincy Training (Spiritual and emotional support to diverse population of patients and loved one, and staff. Chaplains offer compassion and human connection through active listening and genuine presence)

PHYSICIAN’S ORGANIZING COMMITTEE (POC)

  • Mental Health Advocacy in San Francisco

The COALITION OF CONCERNED LEGAL PROFESSIONALS is also partnered with SPLC and is seeking volunteers to serve the needs of those unable to procure legal assistance for themselves.

  • Assistance in legal advocacy (including housing, evictions, employment, hosting events)
  • Hunters’ Point housing advocacy
  • Assist in production of The Gavel newsletter
