Day Six Monday (March 6)

Prayer:

Gracious Lord, lead us today through the experiences and the persons with whom we have traffic. In fact, lead us to the experiences and persons that you want us to have traffic. And then help us to realize a blessed it is to be controlled by you. Amen.

Bible Reading:

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Silence:

One to two minutes

Reflection:

We all have schedules, in some form or another. We vary, though, widely as to just how we keep those schedules, appointments, and events that crowd into our lives. Some are well practiced, some are loose, some are hopeless. Some have internal guides, some have palm devises, some have secretaries. A few seem to have all in control, others seem to be at the mercy of circumstances, and most are somewhere in between. But we all have the same 24 hour, seven days, etc as everyone else. There is a choice to be made, though, between understanding our lives as simply a series of events wandering through life, or a purposeful pilgrimage toward an end. The first is an accident; the second, guided by God. Take your choice!

Action – Repentance and Creation:
Make a list. As honestly as you can, review the past week, using 168 hours, and write down your activities by the hour, sleeping, eating, sitting at the computer, talking on the phone, etc. Are there any patterns that surface? What do these tell you about whether your life is an accident or purpose-filled.
